Bus Éireann to introduce new lower fare for students in Waterford

Over 10,000 third level students in Waterford could benefit from cheaper Bus Éireann fares from December.

The bus operator is introducing a new one day €4 Waterford City Student LeapCard for the first time.

The card will allow users to travel within the city confines on the W1 & W2 routes from December 9th.

The move comes as Bus Éireann rolls out the new fare to several regional cities across Ireland, including Cork, Limerick and Galway.

Commenting on the announcement, Bus Éireann Media & PR Manager Nicola Cooke said: “This means you can take several journeys over 24 hours at a reasonable rate. The Student LeapCard is also a very convenient way of doing this as it can be preloaded with credit and topped up at Payzone outlets, online or via the Leap app on Android phones", she said.

"It should also incentive students to take the bus to part-time jobs in the city, or for social outings during the weekend.”

Students can get their hands on these new low fare personalised Leap Cards by tapping this link.
