Carlow Fire called to 'significant' blaze at a house

Emergency services have responded to a fire at an estate in Carlow Town.

A large blaze at a property in the New Oak Estate has been put out by members of the Carlow Town fire and rescue service, with the blaze now under control.

It's understood there are no injures at the incident, after the blaze spread from the shed in the back garden to the back of the house.

Beat News was at Carlow Town fire station when the blaze broke out, and acting Chief Fire Officer Liam Carroll explained what happened.

"We received a call about a shed fire. The first appliance went out the door very quickly.

"You can actually see the smoke from the rear of the fire station, it seemed to be a significant enough fire.

"You can see that the smoke has changed, which means the crews have started to put water on the fire to extinguish it."
