Carlow County Fire service is celebrating this week after being crowned the National RTC Challenge Champions.
Competing against teams from across the country, the UK, Spain, and Portugal, Carlow took home 7 of the top awards.
Darren Summers, from Tullow and is part of the Carlow team explained what the Challenge involves:
It's simulated car crashes.
It's all based on us improving our skills to benefit everyone out on the road.
There's 6 team members, One officer, 2 medics and 3 guys operating all the tools.
What you have then is live casualties with simulated injuries. You're scored on your efficiency and your safety throughout.
In a 10 minute scenario with a time critical patient and 30minute scenario with 2 patients. One patient who's entrapped and a time critical patient."
