Country at risk of tropical storm later this week

Met Eireann has forecast that downpours of heavy rain and high temperatures are expected for the week.

Later this week, gusts of up to 100kph could hit Ireland as a storm is picking up pace out in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Storm Alex formed in the Atlantic, as south Florida got soaked over the weekend.

Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather says there is still a lot of "uncertainty" around the potential storm on Friday but it looks like it will be an unusually windy June day for all.

However, he has noted that the details are subject to change still.

O'Reilly has also reported that there will be some windy weather in store for tomorrow.
