Social media platform to ban under-age users

A French social media platform is to become the first in the world to ban under-age users.

Yubo has more than 60 million users around the world, 99% of whom are under the age of 25.

Yubo is a live-streaming social media platform that says it “celebrates the true essence of being young”, but anyone looking to join will need to prove that they’re not too young!

Wannabe users will have to undergo an age verification process by submitting a live photo, which will then be analysed by AI.

If someone does not pass the AI stage, they will have to provide evidence of their date of birth, be that a passport or other form of ID.

Yubo CEO Sacha La-zimi says the company believes it has a duty of care to protect young people.
