Fans of DIY SOS Ireland left devastated by death of Josh Parsons

Fans of DIY SOS Ireland have been left devastated following the death of show recipient Josh Parsons.

6-year-old Josh appeared on the show with his parents Jenny and Glen along with his brother Ryan in April as Baz Ashmawy led a team to renovate their Meath home.

The young boy was diagnosed with Smith-Magenis Syndrome - a rare condition that rendered him unable to walk or speak without assistance

Josh had been undergoing treatment at Crumlin Children's Hospital and passed away in "the loving arms of his heartbroken parents."

Paying tribute to Josh, the team behind DIY SOS Ireland, including Baz, said: "Baz Ashmawy, the entire #DIYSOSirl team & community of volunteers, and everyone at @motivetele are devastated to hear of the loss of young Josh Parsons, son to Jen and Glen, who were the centre of our Longwood episode earlier this year. May he rest in peace."

A third wrote: "So saddened to hear this news. Such an amazing family; stole our hearts with their positivity and love for each other."

A celebration of Josh's life will take place in Newlands Cross Crematorium on Thursday at 2.15 pm.  The Cremation service can also be viewed live.
