Gardaí in Carlow are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident happened at Kennedy Avenue.
A man was found lying on the ground bleeding from head, and was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny by ambulance.
Gardaí on patrol were alerted to the incident by members of the public.

They are now appealing to anyone with any information or Dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident to contact Carlow Garda Station.
