New initiative could see pups being welcomed to the workplace

Dogs Trust would like to see more workplaces becoming dog friendly.

As part of their Dog-Friendly initiative, the organisation would like to see employees allowed to bring their dogs to work, where appropriate.

Dogs became highly popular during lockdown with many south east families bringing one into their home.

Speaking to Beat news, head of communications, Ciara Byrne, says they'd like to see more company's getting on board with the idea:

"We'd love to see workplaces allowing more dogs into the work[place, but obviously where appropriate to do so and it's not always feasible to bring a dog in."

"And some dogs might not be comfortable with it so you may look at your your dog and see if they're comfortable with entering a workplace environment."

As people head back to the office, Dogs Trust is also reminding you to put practices in place to ensure your dog is safe at home.

Ciara Byrne also added that dogs being left home alone must be looked after:

"Things like making sure you walk them before you leave, making sure that there is someone there pop in during the lunchtime, or maybe looking at something like doggy daycare."
