Nudist gathering met with mixed response on Wexford beach

A group of naturists reportedly stripped off in the south east yesterday.

The Sun is reporting that a group of nudists bared all on the beach at Curracloe in county Wexford.

The move was met with some opposition from the Mayor of Wexford who said no formal aplication had been made to host the event.

It's understood to have been attended by naturists from all over the country including Tipp, Kilkenny and Waterford.

Ger McCarthy said the beach would have been particularly busy as a result of the fine weather.

"Well I think it's a case of live and let live but eh, if that was to happen on the main street in Wexford you'd be arrested by members of An Garda Siochana for indecent exposure.

But I mean certainly as a local authority we would engage with anyone but I don't think it should be done in an ad hoc way like it was done on Sunday last where there's families and a lot of young children.

I certainly don't think it would be appropriate for their eyes."
