South Tipp General Hospital in Clonmel has confirmed an outbreak of the norovirus at the hospital.
The outbreak is confined to one ward, but two patients have been diagnosed with the illness with a total of six patients showing signs of symptoms.
The ward is closed to visitors and security is in place.
Management there say they are closely monitoring the situation.
