Three men found guilty of raping teenage girl, fourth man convicted for sexual assaults

Three men have been found guilty of raping a young woman in the midlands.

A fourth man who stood trial before the Central Criminal Court was convicted of sexually assaulting her.

In her evidence, the woman said she was 17 years old when became separated from some friends she’d been out with in Tullamore on St Stephen’s Day 2016.

In what she described as a 'stupid, snap decision,' she said she agreed to get into a car driven by one of the accused, Marcos Vinicius De Silva Umbelino, of Riverview, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, who was among those convicted of raping her today.

She described being sexually assaulted and raped by a number of men after being driven to a remote location near Kilbeggan and again at a car park in Tullamore.

Eduardo Dias Ferreira Filho, also of Riverview, Kilbeggan, was convicted of sexual assault and oral rape.

Gabriel Gomes Da Rocha of Mount Armstrong, Rahan, Tullamore, Co Offaly, sexually assaulted her on the car journey out of town and he was also convicted of rape.

Ethan Nikolaou of Brosna Park, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, was convicted of sexually assaulting her at two separate locations, while a fifth man, Conor Byrne of Ballybeg, Moate, Co Westmeath, pleaded guilty to rape just before the trial started.

Their sentence hearing will take place in May.
