Two people being questioned in relation to Waterford robbery

UPDATE 1PM: Two men have been charged with robbery at Waterford District Court this morning.

Gardaí have named them as, 25 year-old Adam Cooney of no fixed abode and 18 year-old Daniel McLoughlin.

Neither man is from the area and will appear before the Waterford District Court next week.

Mr. Cooney has also been charged with dangerous driving and having no insurance.

9AM:Two males are being questioned in relation to a shop robbery in Waterford yesterday.

The incident occurred at Jay Bees Shop on the Dunmore Road in the city.

A 25-year-old and 18-year-old demanded money with both producing knives.

Some cash was handed over and nobody was injured.

The culprits left in a blue ford focus 00 C 21681.

Later at 14.45 Gardai noticed this vehicle on The Mall, Waterford.  The Gardai went to intercept this vehicle.

They failed to stop and as they turned into Catherine Street they collided into another vehicle on the Junction.

Both youths fled the scene. Other units of Gardai were quickly on the scene and both culprits were apprehended.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to WUH as a precaution.  No Serious Injuries.

Both males are presently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act  at Waterford Garda Station
