Vicky Phelan has been announced as the Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick's Day parade in Kilkenny.
The south-Kilkenny native and former employee at Waterford Institute of Technology became known nationwide due to the Cervical Check Scandal, later becoming a leader in the campaign over the mishandling of her case.
Councillor Joe Malone, Chairperson of the Kilkenny St. Patrick's Day community described Vicky as a leading light in the Cervical Check Scandal, going on to say that her articulate, clear and positive leadership was a beacon of hope for many.
"Cancer has hit most of our families in some way but the trauma experienced by Vicky and the hundreds of others so cruelly misdiagnosed has shocked the nation," noted Cllr Malone.
