Waterford and Kilkenny among seven towns in the running for Deliveroo expansion

Waterford and Kilkenny are among seven towns in the running for Deliveroo expansion.

The company is to continue its ambitious expansion plan in 2019, having reached nearly 100,000 more Irish households in 2018.

Last month Deliveroo sought nominations via a dedicated website, challenging people to make the case for why their town should be top of the company's 2019 Irish expansion plans, bringing its logistic enabled delivery network that brings amazing meals to customers doors in under 30 mins.

Amongst the seven shortlisted towns is Waterford and Kilkenny.

The service has already delivered a realm of benefits to the towns in which it currently operates, including the provision of flexible working opportunities and new revenue streams for local restaurants operating in the area.

Because Deliveroo employs their own delivery riders, local restaurants are able to maintain focus on operations in-restaurant while capturing the delivery market at the same time.

Following nominations, the public can now vote on a shortlist of cities and towns where the winner will be added to Deliveroo’s 2019 existing expansion plans. One lucky member of the public who originally nominated the winning town or city will receive a Deliveroo Gold Card entitling them to year’s worth free food on Deliveroo*.

The poll will be hosted on Deliveroo.ie’s Facebook page and voting ends on New Years Eve. Results will be announced shortly after.

In 2018 Deliveroo has increased the number of restaurants it partners with, meaning the average Irish customer now sees double the number of restaurants to order from compared to the start of year, jumping from 40 to 80.

Commenting, Deliveroo Ireland Manager Liam Cox said:

“We’re proud of our record of bringing amazing meals direct to the Irish public. We want to reach more customers in 2019 but we know we can’t reach every part of Ireland, yet.

"We wanted to give the public the chance to make sure their street doesn't miss out on Deliveroo and the huge range of restaurants it gives them access to so we’re letting people directly influence where we expand to next.

"The winning town or city won't be the only place we expand to in 2019, but winning is one way to guarantee 2019 will amazing meals on demand to your door.”
