A Waterford based food producer has been shortlisted for Best Small Producer of the Year at the Irish Quality Food Awards.

Pip and Pear make chilled babyfood and they are the only producers fro the South East to make the shortlist.

The company, which is expanding nationwide next month, is also up for two awards in the childrens category.

Pip and Pear was only formed in the last 12 months, and founder Irene Queally says the recognition will "help her and other new businesses expand their contacts."

Organised by Metropolis Business Media, group publisher Helen Lyons comments, “Picking up an Irish Quality Food and Drink Award is an extremely powerful marketing tool for any business, but for a small producer, the chance to work with one of Ireland’s leading retailers is a wonderful opportunity to grow their business and gain invaluable advice from Dunnes Stores’ Simply Better team.”
