Waterford hotel staff help deliver baby

A Limerick mother who was due to be admitted to University Hospital Waterford today has had her baby in Dooley's Hotel along the Quays in the City.

Co-Owner Mags Darrer said they got a call to go up to a bedroom this morning because a woman had gone into labour.

Mags, along with a work colleague went up to the room to find Sarah Cuneen in labour.

Her husband David was in the room as they waited for the emergency services.

The couple has 3 other children who were taken by hotel staff and brought down for breakfast.

The two ambulances arrived just in time and took over to deliver a healthy baby boy at 9am.

The weighed in at 9lbs 8oz, and both he and Mam are doing well in UHW.
