Waterford woman sets off on 640km charity cycle

A woman is currently taking part in a 640 km cycle to raise funds and awareness for two cancer charities.

Orla Purcell is cycling from Scotland to Ballygunner in Waterford all in aid of Waterford Hospice and Whitecastle Lung Cancer Foundation.  the 640km journey all in aid of Waterford Hospice.Orla's late fiance passed away from Lung cancer 6 years ago.

The charitable cycle comes following the passing of her late fiance to Lung cancer 6 years ago.

Orla explains why she has embarked on this journey:

"The aim of it is to raise awareness and all primarily raise money for two cancer charities. Thie first one is in the UK called Roycastle Lung Cancer Foundation and the other is here at home, the Waterford Hospice.

"We're raising money, we're doing pretty well so far raising over €10,000 and it's going to be split between the two of them.
