WIT students may need to stay in Travelodge due to accommodation shortages

A Waterford Councillor says there's an acute student accommodation crisis in Waterford at the moment.

Connor McGuinness is calling on the local authority to meet with WIT management to address the issue.

It's understood that some students may have to stay in the Travelodge in Waterford due to the shortage this year.

Councillor McGuinness says the current situation is causing havoc for students:

"Just in the last couple of days, hundreds of parents and students have been in touch to share their experiences and concerns."

"The lack of student accommodation in the city, and the area around it, is a massive concern and it's causing havoc for students."
