Google Launches Augmented Reality System, Tango, for Smartphones.

After years of false starts and temperamental technology, Google has finally launched Tango, an augmented reality system for smartphones.

It’s currently only available on Lenovo’s Phab2 Pro, which arrives in US stores this week, but it’s likely to be rolled out on a heap of Android devices in the New Year.

The technology allows for virtual objects and information to appear on top of your surroundings — just like in Pokemon Go, only this is way more advanced.

About 35 applications will be available with Tango capabilities at launch but, according to reports, developers are still figuring out what the cameras are good for, with many trying hard to capitalize on the depth-sensing feature.
