Gardaí await postmortem results after woman shot dead in Dublin

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the death of a woman shot in Dublin on Saturday night.

It is understood that gardaí are awaiting the results of a postmortem examination before saying if their investigation will be a murder probe.

The shooting took place at a home at Collins Place in Finglas West last night, with emergency services called to the scene at about 8.40pm.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The scene remains preserved at this time and a technical examination is currently being conducted by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The remains of the woman have been removed to the City Morgue and a postmortem will be conducted this afternoon by State Pathologist Dr Sally Ann Collis.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing, a Garda update said at lunchtime on Sunday.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information on the fatal shooting to contact them at Finglas Garda station.

They are also appealing for anyone who was driving in the area of Collins Park, Ballygall Road West or any surrounding roads between 8pm and 9pm last night, particularly those who may have video footage, to contact investigating gardaí.
