Gorillaz and Birdy have both announced new Irish dates today (Friday).
In their first Irish performance since 2018, Gorillaz have announced a show at Dublin's 3Arena for August 17th, 2022.
Bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle, and drummer Russel Hobbs make up the virtual band Gorillaz. The band was created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and have been successfully on the scene since their first album in 2001.
Since then they've released Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010), The Fall (2011), Humanz (2017), The Now Now (2018), and Song Machine – Season One: Strange Timez (2020).
Tickets for their August 17th gig in Dublin go on sale at 9am Friday, April 1st via Ticketmaster. You can check out their official site here.
Meanwhile, following the release of her widely acclaimed fourth studio album, ‘Young Heart’, Birdy has also announced a Dublin show. She plays 3Olympia Theatre on 25th April 2023.
Discovered at the age of just 12 years old, Birdy has amassed over 3.3 billion streams worldwide, 1 billion YouTube views, 8.7 million monthly Spotify listeners, and 4.7 million album sales to date.
Speaking on the release of 'Young Heart' she says: “I’m so proud of this album, my last record was a lot more theatrical – there was a lot going on, it was a big production. Whereas this is quite stripped back - anything that didn’t need to be there, isn’t. There’s no decoration. This album just feels very personal – I’ve grown up a lot over the past five years and have experienced new things that have shaped my understanding of the world, but also of who I am as an artist. This album means a lot to me - I want to protect it.”
Tickets from €36.15 including booking and restoration fee go on sale Friday 1st April at 9am.
