130 jobs at risk at Suir Pharma in Clonmel

Over 130 jobs could be at risk in County Tipperary after a provisional liquidator was appointed to a pharmaceutical firm in the county.

The High Court appointed the liquidator to Suir Pharma in Clonmel, which has been operating for around 40 years.

The company cited losses of 4.9 million euro in the 15 months to March 2015, with further losses projected in 2016 and 2017.

Suir Pharma was left with no other option to appoint a provisional liquidator after its parent company Saneca Pharmaceuticals wasn't willing to fund it.

Following the appointment of the liquidator, the matter will now be adjourned to the 13th of June.
