61-year-old woman killed in Co.Kilkenny car collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a two car collision in Kilkenny claimed the life of a woman in her 60's.

The woman was the driver of a car involved in the crash at about a quarter to eight last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Carrigunura, Slieverua at 7.45 last night.

Two cars had crashed on the main New Ross to Waterford Road.

A 61 year old woman - the driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at thE scene while the driver of the second car suffered minor injuries.

A post mortem will be conducted on the woman's remains later at Waterford University Hospital and Gardaí are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

The N25 near the Rhu Glenn is expected to remain closed until midday to allow a forensic examination of the scene take place.
