As part of Operation Thor, Gardaí from the South Eastern Region have arrested five people, four males and one female, following a number of planned searches in Portlaoise, Kilkenny and Waterford this morning, Thursday 4th February 2016.
The four arrested males, aged 21, 28, 30 and one of which is a juvenile are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at various Garda Stations throughout the region.
The female, also juvenile, is detained at Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal justice Act, 1984.
The operation was conducted as part of investigations into recent burglaries in the region and to combat organised criminal activity.
An amount of property, believed to be stolen, was seized during the searches.
