Tipperary woman searches desperately for her four children in Tunisia after holiday nightmare

An Irish mother's vowed she won't leave Tunisia without her four children.

Elaine Ryan from Portroe in County Tipperary hasn't seen her four children for almost three years, after travelling to the country for a family holiday.

She claims they were taken from her by their father while on the holiday in August 2019.

While the judicial system ruled in her favour and says that she has the right to have her children, Ms Ryan says their father continues to move the children around various locations so she can't find them.

It's reported that Ms Ryan has only spoken to the children once on a video call since they were taken away from her by their dad.

Kais, Hssine, Sihem and Khaled have not been seen by their mother in person in almost three years. Kais (the youngest of the four) was only 18-months-old when last with his mother. Ms Ryan also has a daughter, from a relationship prior to her marriage, named Sarah-Jane.

The Tunisian government has been contacted via multiple letters by the Department of Foreign Affairs in an effort to understand why the decision by the courts for Ms Ryan to have her children has not been followed through. According to Evoke.ie, "Sources in the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed active consular assistance is being provided but stressed the difficulty in operating outside the main urban areas in Tunisia."

Minister Simon Coveney and the Irish Embassy in both Madrid and more recently, Morocco, have also been part of Ms Ryan's efforts in finding her children.
