Attempt made to decapitate woman in suspected murder case

An attempt was made to decapitate the woman who was killed in Dublin yesterday morning, according to a crime writer.

She was discovered in the Charlestown area of Finglas on Wednesday night, after being assaulted at her home.

A Brazilian man, also in his 30s, remains in Garda custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

John Hand, the chief reporter with the Irish Mirror, says it was a gruesome killing.

"Gardaí do believe there was an attempt to decapitate the victim, but the man did not follow through on that

"But she had serious neck and head injuries, and the scene was very brutal.

"It was a very violent act that took this woman's life."
