Clonmel is ‘falling to pieces’ since the amalgamation of Tipperary, says Tipp TD

Clonmel is ‘falling to pieces’ since the amalgamation of Tipperary.

That’s according to Independent TD Mattie McGrath, who has questioned why some towns have received both Urban and Rural Regeneration Development Funding while others haven’t.

McGrath says a ‘forced amalgamation’ of the county has stripped other county towns of their status, and left them ‘bereft’ when it comes to funding.

The latest round of funding saw Nenagh receive over 1 million euros in regeneration funding, while Tipperary Town hasn’t received the same.

He added that it shows the power shift to the North Tipperary town, as Tipp Town and Clonmel are left without.

Speaking to Beat News, McGrath says it’s wrong.
