Collisions close three routes in the South East tonight as weather deteriorates

Three separate collisions have closed roads in the region tonight.

In Kilkenny, the N24 Waterford/Clonmel Rd is closed southbound at the junction for Piltown. Traffic is being diverted through Piltown Village. Local Gardaí say the road will not reopen until at least tomorrow morning.

In Waterford, the N25 Waterford/ Cork Rd between Kilmeaden and Carroll's Cross was closed for a time this evening due to a collision; it has since reopened.

In Tipperary, the local Newchapel Rd just off the N24 near Barne Lodge was closed for a number of hours this evening as emergency services dealt with a collision. The road reopened around 9pm.

AA Roadwatch is also warning of very icy conditions tonight on the Bunclody/Carnew road in Wexford.

A Status Orange Fog Warning is in place for the country with fog patches lingering in parts of the midlands, north Leinster and south Ulster. Dense fog is expected over much of the country this evening, overnight and tomorrow morning. The warning is valid until midday tomorrow.

A Status Yellow Low Temperature Warning is also in place for the entire country, with severe frost developing this evening and continuing overnight and tomorrow morning. Lowest temperatures of 0 to -5 degrees, coldest in Leinster. This warning is valid until midday tomorrow.
