E-cigarettes recalled due to highs levels of nicotine

Some Aroma King e-cigarette products are being recalled after a number were found to have up to two and a half times the legal limit of nicotine.

The products affected include Aroma King Bar 600 puffs, 700 plus puff and King Queen 1,400.

46 ranges and flavours of Aroma King disposable e-cigarettes are included in the warning.

The HSE's urging people to stop using them and is asking shops to remove them from shelves immediately.

Head of Environmental Health at the HSE, Maurice Mulcahy, says the health risk varies from person to person.

"It depends on how much you take and your own personal underlying circumstances or susceptibility

"Not good for you, you should stop using it, o back to the shop, they should take it from you quite happily and they should have a recall notice in the window.

"If they haven't you should contact the HSE."

The news comes as earlier this week there was a call for stricter regulations of disposable vapes.

It's over concerns young people are attracted to products that are flavoured and will progress to using tobacco products.

Consultant at Crumlin Hospital, Dr Des Cox, says research shows those using e-cigarettes at a young age, will try other possibly more harmful products when they are older.

"They are very colourful and come in different flavours.

"Research has shown that these products are very attractive to young peopel and teenagers.

"There is now evidence from the Health Research Board review that adolescents that use e-cigarettes are four times more likely to go on and use tobacco products."
