Fire at hotel earmarked for asylum seeker accommodation

An investigation's underway into the cause of a fire at a hotel in Leitrim that had been earmarked for asylum seeker accommodation.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control last night at the Shannon Key West Hotel in Roosky.

No one was injured.

The hotel was the centre of an ownership row, after it was announced in November that it was to be converted into a direct provision centre.

An agreement has since been reached to develop a four-star hotel on the site.
