Ireland's Food Story served up in the South East

International journalists are taking part in a gastronomy tour of Ireland's Ancient East.

The group - hailing from Germany, France, Belgium and Sweden - are currently mid-way through a tour of Waterford and Kilkenny.

The food hacks are set to visit Dungarvan's Tanery, Ardmore's Cliff House Hotel and Kilkenny's School of Food to name but a few.

Sinéad Hennesy, Food Tourism Officer with Fáilte Ireland says: "with ourselves in food tourism we're really on a mission to put Ireland on the world food map."

So it's hoped that once these journalists return home they'll help to persuade their many followers - these journalists have over 1.3 Million in collective following."

It's for them to persuade their followers to take that decision to come to Ireland and immerse themselves in a journey of discovery through Ireland's Ancient East."

John Mulcahy, head of Fáilte's Food Tourism Ireland, also weighed in on the visit: “This week they meet members of a thriving food and drink scene in Kilkenny and Waterford who share their story of history, culture and people through showcasing local and traditional food producers and traditions,” he said.

"It is hoped that once they return home they will help persuade their many followers and readers to take that decision to come to Ireland and immerse themselves in a journey of discovery in Ireland’s Ancient East - re-positioning Irish food experiences firmly in the mind set of their followers."
