"We had a good debate and discussion around how we can revitailse the town of Clonmel by investing in the town centre, by getting people living in the town centre again, by trying to get properties above retail outlets lived in again.

We have a very innovative scheme now called 'a repair and leasing scheme' by where if someone has a property vacant at the moment, if someone was willing to make it available to the local authority to rent it.

Then the local authority will actually pay for the upgrade needed in the property and factor that into the rent over the next 10 years or so."
