It was a huge blow for Ireland when it was announced yesterday Ireland captain Niamh Briggs has been ruled out of the upcoming Women's Rugby World Cup.
The Waterford native and experienced full-back has suffered an achilles injury in training and head-coach Tom Tierney has confirmed she'll miss the entire tournament.
Louise Galvin has been called up to the squad ahead of their opening pool game against Australia next Monday.
