Same-sex parents will soon be able to register both names on their child's birth cert under new regulations to be signed by the Health Minister today.

A ban on anonymous sperm donation and the creation of a register for donor conceived children will also come into effect shortly when Simon Harris signs regulations to commence Sections 2 and 3 of the Children and Family Act.

According to the Irish Times, courts may also be given the power to make the intended parents of a child born through surrogacy the legal parent, however, legislation is only in the early stages.
