Waterford family relieved following heroic rescue of Gertie the dog from 40ft cliff

A Co. Waterford family were left to breathe a sigh of relief following the heroic rescue of their family mutt from a cliffside last night.

Fearing the pet may have been stolen, the D'arcy family put the word out on social media last Thursday to see if any locals had spotted their beloved pet.

Please keep an eye out for our dog Gertie. She went missing on Thursday morning in the Stradbally area and we haven't seen her since. Very friendly dog. Reward will be given for her safe return.

Luckily, an eagle-eyed local spotted the adventurous dog earlier yesterday.

But, Gertie, being the adventurous pet he is, had somehow found himself isolated on a precarious 40-foot cliff side.

Soon, a coast guard team was assembled to rescue the stranded canine.
