Waterford gardaí catch motorist who climbed into backseat before colliding with bus

A motorist in Waterford is awaiting a date in court after they failed to pull off a daring move believed to avoid detection by Gardaí.

The driver of what is understood to be a silver Ford Focus came to the attention of gardaí when they were spotted travelling in excess of the legal speed limit.

When pursued by gardaí the motorist is believed to have climbed into the back seat of the vehicle before crashing into a parked bus.

When tested by Waterford's Road Policing Unit the motorist tested positive for cannabis.

The car was also found to be uninsured.

Taking to the Gardaí Twiter account, police said: "Waterford RPU recently detected this car exceeding the speed limit. In coming to a stop for Gardaí the driver climbed into the back seat as the car struck a parked bus. The driver returned a positive drugs test for cannabis & had no insurance. Court to follow."
