Wexford recorded highest number of daily sunshine hours last month

The highest number of daily sunshine hours in Ireland last month was recorded at Johnstown Castle in Co. Wexford.

Latest data from Met Éireann shows 9 weather stations recorded their highest ever temperatures in July.

They include Gurteen in Tipperary which saw a record breaking 31 degrees.

The driest day was seen in Oak Park in Carlow, where it rained for just 6 days last month.

Ireland's meteorological service say that the weather round up for July 2022 was generally "hot, sunny with widespread heatwaves and rainfall totals were variable and all mean air temperatures and sunshine totals were above average".

Rainfall across the country was below average everywhere but lowest in the South.

All rainfall totals were below their 1981-2010 Long-Term Average.

The number of rain days for the month per county ranged from 6 days at Oak Park, Co Carlow to 22 days at both Malin Head, Co Donegal and Finner, Co Dongeal.

Temperature were above average everywhere, record high maximum daily temperatures reported at nine stations.

The highest number of daily sunshine hours recorded this month was 15.7 hours at Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford on Sunday 10th.
