Workers vote for strike action at Waterford Airport

A spokesperson for the UNITE trade union has confirmed that a number of workers at Waterford Airport are to go on an all out strike.

The decision was taken after a meeting of union members earlier this afternoon.

A letter has been sent to management at the airport, outlining the plans for strike action as well as the placing of a picket line.

Waterford Airport confirmed in a statement yesterday that short-time working hours for members of operational staff had come into effect from Sunday

The 12 workers balloted to take industrial action after management cut their working hours from 39 to 21 a week, a move UNITE say was "decided unilaterally".
