Ken McGrath set to be named as Waterford U20 boss

Following a disappointing hurling year in the county, the future of the game in Waterford is looking bright, with Ken McGrath set to be appointed as the U20 hurling manager.

The Waterford legend played for his beloved county between 1996-2011 and earned a decorated playing career - achieving three All-Star awards. He also won four Munster Senior Hurling Championships and a National Hurling League title.

McGrath also enjoyed a stellar club career, winning a Munster title and six Waterford Senior Hurling Championships.

Fan-Favourite Dan Shanahan is set to join him on the touchline, alongside former Déise captain Kevin Moran and Ballygunner's Andy Moloney.

Shanahan had previously served as a selector as part of Derek McGrath's backroom team and recently served time at underage levels in Laois. The 2007 Hurler of the Year will bring an undeniable sense of passion.

Moran holds the phenomenal feat of making 143 appearances for the County and is held in the highest regard by hurling fans throughout the Country.

While Moloney brings an All-Ireland-winning mentality as a coach with the magnificent Ballyhale Shamrocks - to go along with a Munster Championship as a Gunner.

Waterford GAA proudly confirmed that the former inter-county stars will have their names put forward for ratification for a two-year term at the next meeting of the County Board.
