The player is eager to get started in the South East and aims to feature regularly.

“The opportunity to come to Ireland and sign for Waterford FC really stood out to me,” he told WaterfordFC.ie.

“I’m at the point where I want to try to play as many games as possible and I feel like this can really benefit my career and push Waterford FC in the direction we want the club to go and bring success.

“From training, I can see the standard of goalkeeping at the club is very high and there’s strong competition which you need to be a success. It’s going to be a good battle between us but I feel like we’ll really support each other on and off the pitch.

“I trained with the lads and really enjoyed it, they’re a great group of lads and I can’t wait to fight for my place, get on the pitch and show what I can do.”

Head Coach Keith Long is aiming for competition for places among the entire starting XI and is eager for an immediate impact.

“We’re delighted to get Sam in. It’s good to have competition across all departments in the squad,” Long was quoted as saying via WaterfordFC.ie.

“Sam is a good age and has EFL experience along with a number of loans. He was highly thought of at Leyton Orient and he’s come here for a new challenge and try to help the team.

“We’re looking forward to working with him, he’s a good professional and works really hard so hopefully he can come here and make an impact.”
