Long range charts forecast snow for Christmas Day!

Could a white Christmas FINALLY be on the cards?

Unlikely as it sounds given the current mild spell, the UK Met Desk's long-range outlook is forecasting cold weather and even falls of the white stuff on Christmas Day.

Temperatures are forecast to tumble over the next week before falling further on Christmas Eve to a chilly 3 degrees celsius.

Christmas Day is forecast to be even colder with sunny spells and possible falls of snow.

According to the latest snowfall charts, all South East counties could see snowfall in parts, with 6-8 centimetres forecast in Tipperary.

However, weather expert Alan O'Reilly has warned us not to get too excited about falls of the white stuff on Christmas Day, tweeting: "Just for fun and really this far out it is impossible to forecast with any confidence but take a look at the latest ECMWF forecast for snow depths for Christmas Day."

Guess we'll just have to wait a little longer to find out if our dream of a white Christmas will come true this year!
