Half of girls think emojis are stereotypical

Love them or hate them - emojis are a global language.
More than a billion of them are sent by girls across the world every day, but it seems most young women aren't happy with how they're represented by them.

A survey to mark International Women's Day today, has found around half of girls think emojis are stereotypical, featuring princesses or dancing bunnies in pink, doing their nails and their hair.

7 out of ten of the young women surveyed said they'd like more progressive emojis, including professional female options.

The research was commissioned by the hashtag Like A Girl campaign, which aims to stop the drop in confidence girls experience at puberty.
