With the Halloween midterm just around the corner, it's about time you planned some spooky adventures for you and the fam.

Fret not, there's a whole host of amazing events taking place across the Déise for you to sink your teeth into...

Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens

Take a spooky walk in the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens in Tramore as they host their Winter Frights…Ghostly Woodland Walk from October 15th - November 16th. As part of this year’s experience, an art installation by Sean Corcoran of Art Hand will provide additional interest as the natural cotton thread will form many of the webs.

This is a daytime event starting from 11 am -  4.30 pm.  Tickets and accessibility information are available online and walk-ins are also welcome. Adults €6 and Children €

Lismore Heritage Centre

Are you up for a challenge? Then Lismore Heritage Centre in County Waterford should be right up your street this Halloween. Have you got what it takes to conquer the ‘I Rest My Case’ escape room?

Set in Lismore Courthouse in 1908, your team has been convicted of the murder of a little girl named Julia O'Donoghue and you are awaiting punishment, with one hour to prove your innocence and to escape before you are beheaded. The only person that has the answers you need is Julia herself. Are you brave enough?

Waterford Suir Valley Railway

A beautiful heritage narrow-gauge railway that runs along 10 kilometres of the abandoned Waterford Dungarvan line, The Waterford Suir Valley Railway will be operating the Spooky Express this year during the Midterm break week between October 29 - November 6th.

Book a compartment for your family to enjoy a forty-minute trip, boarding at Kilmeaden Station and travelling through the countryside and along the banks of the River Suir as far as Carriganore. Watch out for the spooky scenes at Kilmeaden Station and along the route.

The Spooky Express will operate between 11 am - 3 pm and will be departing on the hour.

Wicked Woods

One of the South East’s premier Halloween attractions created by the award-winning spectacle specialists Waterford Spraoi. This Samhain celebration staged at Carriganore Wood on the Waterford Greenway, adjacent to SETU Arena has something for everyone this Halloween. Encounter creatures of the night, sound, light, live performances and stunning installations on October 28th, 29th, and 30th. Evening shows run on the half-hour from 6.00 p.m. Daylight matinee shows run on the half-hour from 2.00 p.m on Saturday, October 29th. Online tickets are now on sale. Single ticket €5, Family Ticket for five €20 (A small transaction fee will apply).

The Haven Hotel

The Haven Hotel in Dunmore East has a great lineup of entertainment this October Bank Holiday. King Kong Company will take centre stage on Saturday, 29th October, with Mad Ferret taking to the stage on Sunday, 30th October. At the end of the holiday week, they will also have a real treat for Guns ’n’ Roses and Black Sabbath fans with Abuse Your Illusion and Craic Sabbath on Friday 4th November. All gigs offer free buses back to Waterford City afterwards.
