This Cork strand was named best beach in Ireland

Inchydoney Beach in Clonakilty, Co Cork has come out on top of a list of the best in Ireland by TripAdvisor users.

The top three was completed by Banna Strand and Inch Beach, both in Co Kerry.

Four more beaches from Kerry were in the top 10, while Sligo, Clare and Dublin are also represented.

“These awards recognise the best beaches in Ireland and worldwide, according to the travellers that have visited and given them the highest levels of praise,” said Hayley Coleman, TripAdvisor spokesperson.

“The residents of Clonakilty should be very proud to see Inchdoney Beach climbing up from second place last year to be named Ireland’s very best rated beach this year.”

  • 3. Inch Beach, Inch
  • 4. Strandhill Beach, Strandhill
  • 5. Derrynane Beach, Caherdaniel
  • 6. Coumeenoole Beach, Dingle
  • 7. Lahinch Beach, Lahinch
  • 8. Rossbeigh Beach, Glenbeigh
  • 9. Ladies Beach, Ballybunion
  • 10. Portmarnock Beach, Portmarnock

Travellers’ Choice Beaches award-winners were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor gathered over a 12-month period.

In the world ranking, Baia do Sancho in Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago with UNESCO world heritage status, was named the number one beach in the world.
