Tipperary woman called Frances Fitzgerald is getting tweets meant for someone else

After days of controversy and speculation, our Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald resigned yesterday.

As a result, a 27-year-old University of Limerick graduate who shares her name is getting a lot of misdirected backlash.

She’s been getting bombarded with tweets by disgruntled members of the public who’ve mistaken her account for that of her political namesake.

She said it all started when a political journalist mistakenly mentioned her handle in a tweet about the former Tánaiste.

Since then, people have been demanding both a statement and a resignation from her.

She is receiving some sympathy from Niall Horan and Stephen Donnelly, two men who also share names with Irish public figures.
