The Academic have today announced their biggest ever headline show at Dublin's stunning Iveagh Gardens on Friday July 20th.

The band’s hotly anticipated debut album called ‘Tales From The Backseat’ will be released on January 12th 2018.

Recorded between Los Angeles and London with producer Tim Pagnotta (Dreamcar, Walk The Moon, Saint Motel), ‘Tales From The Backseat’ offers some of The Academic’s most accomplished songwriting yet. From the anthemic alt-rock smash ‘Bear Claws’ to the infectious, joyful exuberance of ‘Permanent Vacation’ to the punchy, swaying earworm and recent ‘Hottest Record’ at BBC Radio 1 ‘ Why Can’t We Be Friends, the songs take aim at the turbulence of growing into your twenties – loss of innocence, wariness of adulthood, unease with and ultimate acceptance of the inevitability of growing up.

Spending the best part of the last 3 years firmly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting bands on the live circuit both and home and abroad, their captivatingly energetic live shows have won the hearts of people wherever they go. Having already completed a number of sold out dates across Ireland, the UK, US and Europe, debut album ‘Tales From The Backseat’ is sure to be the next step in what is likely to be an incredible year for the Westmeath four-piece.
