The Strypes call it a day after eight years

The Strypes are no more.

The Cavan four-piece announced their immediate split on social media this morning, thanking their fans.

UK and Irish arena appearances followed before an EP release in 2012.

The band's debut album, Snapshot peaked at No.2 on the Irish album charts and No.5 in the UK.

Two other albums, Little Victories and Spitting Image followed - as did three sold-out Japanese tours.
