A new nightclub for adults with intellectual disabilities to open in Cork

The first nightclub for adults with intellectual disabilities is set to open in Cork.

The disco, which has been a hit in locations such as Macroom, will now take place every month in The Kino, Washington Street, and will be DJ’d by Jerry Mulcahy, who has special needs himself.

Kicking off on Sunday, May 26 from 8 pm until 11 pm, event organisers, Alan Mulcahy (Jerry’s Dad) and local publican Ernest Cantillon said the nightclub was set up to create a safe space within Cork’s social scene.

The multi-purpose venue is fully wheelchair accessible and security will also be available to supervise and assist.

The bar will also be open, with teas and coffees available.

Tickets are €5 per person and available on the door whilst carers and parents go free.
