Waterford-Dublin train forced to make emergency stop as passenger falls suddenly ill

An Irish Rail train travelling from Waterford to Heuston station is currently stopped in Mullinavat in Co Kilkenny.

The 07:50 service was halted at the Glendonnell level crossing at about 8:20 this morning.

According to Iarnrod Eireann, emergency services are on board the train dealing with an ill passenger.

Passengers on the train have told Beat that they have been informed by staff that emergency personnel are having difficulty removing the ill person from the carriage.

Update: The train has since made its way back to Plunkett Station, Waterford city. There is no further update on the condition of the individual concerned.
