But what do you need to know about the day of the event?

Here's everything you need to know in a little more detail:

  1. Registration will take place by the Boat Slip on Tramore Beach from 11.30am where you can pick up your race number and pins.
  2. Please leave all valuables at home as there will be nowhere to store them on the day.
  3. Beat’s Andy Mac will be broadcasting LIVE from the beach between 11am and 3pm – come say hi & give your requests for friends or family you know taking part in Sandstorm!
  4. Come early to enjoy the build up to the event– local band The Big Bang will be entertaining early arrivals from 11.30am onwards.  They were at Spraoi last weekend and absolutely rocked the streets of Waterford City so you won’t want to miss this energetic, percussion focused five piece do the same on Tramore Beach!
  5. Waterford Fitness Instructor and personal trainer Sinead Brannigan from Sinead4Fitness will be warming up with participants from 12.30pm.  She’ll put you through the right paces so you’re well ready for the starting line!
  6. The race itself starts at 1pm sharp and involves a 5km obstacle course along Tramore Beach.
  7. Water and other refreshments will be available.
